Retro Finds

Mega Man 2 and Castlevania
With the help of the mighty Ebay I was finally able to find these two classics at a good enough price to add them to my collection. I actually played and beat Mega Man 2 a couple of weeks ago on IOS, and have been looking forward to playing it on the original hardware even since. It will be nice to play with a controller and not a touch screen. The faster paced platforming required to get through the game was made a lot harder with my fat fingers pounding away on my Iphone screen.

Castlevania is one of those classic games I just missed out on back in the day. My only real experience with it is through casual emulator play. Can't wait to give this one a go.

Retro Finds

Little Nemo & Ghost 'N Goblins
Hello all Bad Username here with some more retro video game finds. This week I picked up two Capcom NES games at a retail store for role playing / card games called Colosseum Games located in Kenosha,WI. The person who helped me out was really friendly and I could tell he also passion for retro games too. I think he may have been the owner but I am not entirely sure. Anyways at the front counter they have a small section of retro games; NES, SNES, N64, etc. Prices are about what you can expect for a retail store, up words of $20 for the more popular retro games. With that said I feel I got a good deal on the games I found today. I will definitely check in there every now and again to see what comes in.

IT CAME FROM CRAIGS LIST!!!

___________________________________________________________________

Found an ad on Craigslist for a bunch of gaming stuff. A lot of empty N64 boxes and sports games, but he did have two working Dreamcast consoles. I got it all for just $25. I already have a few Dreamcast so I think I'll try to flip these Craigslist one on Ebay. I have been trying to thin out  my duplicate consoles and games. I'm saving up for a Neo Geo AES or CMVS, I haven't decided yet. I played an AES at the Video Game Summit a couple of months ago and have been wanted to get my hands on one ever since.

Another garage sale find. $3 for all the games in the two pictures. Not a bad deal.

Weekend Retro Game Play : Killer Instinct

So it's Friday night and the mood is right. Right for what you may ask? It's right for playing some Killer Instinct on the SNES. The AVGN just put out a Killer Instinct memories video which after watching got me wanting to do some combo breaking.

KI was one of those games that my buddies and I would play the hell out of when we where kids. If I recall I was never that great at the game but I could hold my own. My favorite character was always Cinder because I felt his combos were the easiest for me to pull off. The funny thing about Killer Instinct is that I can't remember ever playing the game all the way through, because my friends and I would  always go head to head. So I guess my goal this weekend to play through the game at least once.

I actually got to play the stand-up arcade version for the first time a few months back at MGC. Which is what got me thinking about the game again enough to pick up the copy I currently own. I got a pretty good deal on it I think I paid about $5 bucks for the SNES cart. It's been sitting on my shelf ever since so I thought that this would be the perfect time to blow the dust off.

Rockin' Retro Gaming Music

Wow it feels like forever since I actually sat down to write something for the blog. I guess I haven't had any real inspiration lately, but that was until yesterday when I stumbled upon some retro gaming music on Spotify. I found a crap ton of awesome video game music. From straight up covers to remakes of everyone's favorite retro video game themes. Some of the themes even have lyrics added to them. Awesome, right? With that said I would like to share a couple of my favorite tunes I have found so far on my musical journey. This listing is in no particular order because all of these guys kick ass. Rock on dudes!
